A green architectural experience
In this distinctive architectural studio in Amsterdam, the boundary between interior and nature blurs. At the center of the space is an imposing atrium with workspaces on the upper level, surrounded by lush hanging plants. From the walkways, employees look out over a green landscape that winds its way through the entire building. The vegetation appears to grow right out of the structure, creating a spatial experience reminiscent of the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The greenery is not merely decoration but an integral part of the architecture. The building’s height, the natural daylight, and the layered arrangement of the plants create a unique work environment where tranquility, inspiration, and creativity converge.

Indoor plants as an extension of the design
In this project, the plantings serve both an aesthetic and a functional purpose. The trees and hanging plants soften the industrial architecture and bring scale, texture, and natural dynamism to the space. At the same time, they contribute to a more pleasant work environment. Research shows that a view of greenery can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and enhance well-being in the workplace. Specialized knowledge is essential to successfully implement such a green concept. Factors such as light exposure, growing space, irrigation, nutrition, and species selection ultimately determine the lifespan and quality of the plants. By carefully coordinating these aspects from the design phase onward, a sustainable ecosystem is created that not only makes an impression today but will also continue to thrive in the future.

An interior like this requires more than standard landscaping maintenance. Of course, technical aspects such as pruning, irrigation management, fertilization, and health checks are of great importance, but preserving the original spatial experience is just as important. After all, as trees and plants grow, the way people experience the space also changes. Our maintenance therefore focuses on maintaining the balance between architecture and vegetation, ensuring that sightlines, light penetration, and spatial quality remain intact. By continuously focusing on form, vitality, and appearance, the studio’s green heart continues to evolve without losing its character. This creates an interior that not only remains healthy for years to come but also inspires and surprises anew every day.
